Why Riding the Chicken?

Some-one asked me the other day why I named my blog riding the chicken. I was watching the girls run frantically around the yard chasing little moths they just couldn't catch. I was thinking to myself Yep that's me racing all over the place and not achieving a great deal at this time.I thought it's time to stop riding the chicken and do something calming so I started my Life Journal,Who am I on the Inside? and then I thought a lot of other women must be riding a chicken as well so I decided to use my energy to start the class and share my years journey and hopefully share in theirs as well.

I think I'm Melting

It's sooo hot,the clouds are sitting really low in the sky full of water but no rain. The humidity is atrocious I feel like I'm melting. I've been awake since 3am and I noticed alot of my neighbours had lights on as well so no-one is sleeping. We need a full blown storm to cool things down.

Community What is it?

I heard some women talking the other day about their community and it made me think about my own values as far as community goes. The way these people were talking they all helped each other and mixed at barbeques etc That's what started me thinking. I live in the same place and yet I have never been spoken to by these people who were saying "What a great community!". I see their idea of community as a clique and that's fine too of course we are going to select our friends on the basis of common interests compatibility etc. But please don't call it a community because it's not. A community is when you help people you don't know just because you can,you may be there at the right moment to help an older member of the community a hand getting their groceries home. You pick up fishing line, plastic bags etc without needing a pat on the back for it or fall back on the old cliche "its not my job why should I do it?" You do it because you are part of a community and everything effects everyone else. I tend to notice that many people who call themselves community minded often have their own agendas which usually means they want to sell their property or value add to it in one way or another. I must admit I felt like saying to these people. When was the last time you spoke to or did something for a stranger? When was the last time you committed a random act of kindness for some-one who isn't a part of your community

Bad chickens!!!!!!

My chickens had the run of my sizeable yard but were they happy Noooo! They were in next door down the street and the other day I had to chase them in from over the road. Now they've been put in a smaller space and they can only come out when we're out there. Some chickens just don't know when they're on a good thing.
